Healthcentral.com is a site directed
toward offering information to those seeking clarification regarding medical
conditions. The site offers various articles and tools to users.
The homepage design is unwieldy and does not offer prominent links to sections. Intrusive pop-up advertising in addition to ads on each page are a deterrent to use.
Conditions
Pages devoted to medical conditions are crowded and cluttered. Users may
simply look elsewhere for information when faced with the seemingly disorganized
pages.
Information is abundant. If presented in a more user-friendly way, Healthcentral.com would be a very good resource for users.
Video Library
Many videos are available on a multitude of health/medical related topics.
Videos are clearly presented, although some areas have not had new video
entries for several years.
Community
Communities are available to connect with those with similar conditions.
The problem is finding the forum areas. Again, the site is not intuitive.
It seems that forums are separated by condition, which may result in users
limiting use rather than jumping from forum to forum for answers.
