Drugs.com is a free website with multiple medication management tools. Medication
advice includes warnings and potential drug interactions. Up-to-date medical
news is included on the homepage, as are links to main categories. Sections
dedicated to FDA drug alerts, clinical trial results, and even veterinary
drugs are included.
Drugs.com is a very thorough medication reference. One of the most valuable features is the Pill Identifier. With imprint, color, and shape, users can find out exactly what medication they have. This tool would be useful for those who use custom pill boxes and no longer have the prescription bottle, or for those who find a pill or capsule and need to identify what it is.
MedNotes is a personal health record manager included with Drugs.com membership. The PHR is divided into sections for drugs, conditions, allergies, reports, and notifications. MedNotes generates warnings for medication interactions as well as patient resources.
Another very unique tool on Drugs.com is the Phonetic Search. If a user wishes to look up a medication and knows what it is called, but not how to spell it correctly, the phonetic search can find the most likely matches. For example, a search for “zanacks” will yield the drug “xanax”.
